Energy efficiency system for highway tunnel lighting through point-to-point electronic control of projectors and dynamic adaptation based on environmental parameters.
Tunneling lighting is regulated by a sophisticated and strict standard that results in high operating costs for public roads. Energy Consumption is very high, especially in high speed routes during daylight hours, and particularly so in territories such as the Iberian Peninsula with many hours of sun and clear sky.
The system introduces point-to-point electronic control elements for the light sources, together with information and communication technologies for their control and remote management. This solution also includes specific environmental sensors and algorithms to dynamically and accurately adapt the resulting light profile in the tunnel to what existing regulations stablish to guarantee driving safety and the correct guiding and adaptation of physiological sight conditions.
With a low investment, the electricity bill is reduced to typical values around 35%, resulting in very competitive periods of return, even shorter than 3 years. The system is equally valid for new facilities with LED technology, with the highest savings.
